Internationalization

To lead a company successfully into the future often signifies a crucial challenge to develop an international strategy in order to be able to operate also internationally in the markets and to maintain competitiveness. Rapid change, knowledge of the country and complexities of the markets must be identified in order to respond to and to adapt the company. It is irrelevant whether the company is focused on a few markets of the home base or global markets. A dynamic strategy should enable the company to meet these requirements.

By means of political and regional market structures, economic forces of great complexity develop. In addition to the economic conditions, it is last but not least soft factors such as lifestyle, socio-cultural influences and cultural diversity that cause different mechanisms in the markets.

Careful preparation and planning of short and medium term priorities is essential. Less experienced companies that want to make the step to internationalization can gain first experiences through market experimentation, joint ventures or supply contracts and get to know the opportunities and risks of the new locations and markets. The following step may then be to found a company or joining with another company.

To perform the internationalization, all levels must be well defined. These include in particular the objectives in the markets to be developed, the degree of international integration into the overall business, the available resources and the common foundations of any business such as technology, market segmentation, core competencies, customer value, the value chain and the strategic direction of the company.
